トロピカルジャケット(COAT, MAN'S, COMBAT, TROPICAL ジャングルファティーグコンバットジャケット)は、1960年代初頭にベトナム戦争時に米陸軍に使用された熱帯用標準被服です。その基本的デザインは、M-1942パラシュートジャンプジャケットをベースに開発され、高温多湿の熱帯雨林ジャングルでの着用を前提に、乾きやすく軽い薄手のコットン生地が採用されました。物を出し入れしやすいように斜めに配された排水穴付きのマチ付きポケット、前立て内側に設けられたインナーフラップ(内側2つのボタン留め)、トップボタン以外の隠しボタン仕様のフロントプラケット、2つボタンで袖口調整が可能なマチ付きの袖口、ウエストサイズ調整用の腰に配されたボタンタブなどの機能性を備えています。

トロピカルジャケットは、その採用期間にいくつかの仕様変更が行われ、大まかに3つに分類されます。主な仕様変更点は、初期のファーストモデルはポケットのボタンが露出したモデル、ポケットのボタンがフラップでカバーされた隠しボタン仕様のセカンドモデル、サードモデルはセカンドまで付いていた肩のエポレットとウエストサイズ調整用のボタンタブが省略された仕様のモデルです。

本製品は、そのトロピカルジャケットの1st Model(ファーストモデル)の復刻品です。

素材はコットン100%のライトウェイト薄地ポプリン生地です。高密度に織られ強度に優れている薄手生地です。高温多湿の熱帯雨林ジャングルでの着用を前提に、乾きやすく軽い薄手のコットン生地で、ミリタリーらしい無骨な表情ながら、しなやかな着心地も併せ持つ生地です。

一重で裏地なしの薄地アウター(薄手のコート シャツジャケット)なので、ライトアウターとして春や秋に羽織ったり、重ね着用としてや、冬のインナーとしても着用できたりと、幅広く、長い期間使い回せるアイテムになっています。

フロントは6ボタン留めによる開閉式です。トップボタン以外は、隠し前立てにボタンを留める隠しボタン仕様です。さらに隠し前立ての内側にはインナーフラップ(ガスフラップ)が設けられ、インナーフラップも内側の２つのボタンで留められる仕様になっています。

ポケット数は４つです。両胸×２、ウエスト×２です。胸ポケットは物を出し入れしやすいように斜めに配された排水穴付き2ボタン留めマチ付きフラップポケットです。両胸ポケットの内側にはペンホルダーが搭載されています。ウエストポケットも排水穴付き2ボタン留めマチ付きフラップポケットです。

シャツのようなオープンカラー(開襟襟)、肩のボタン留めのエポーレット、腰の両サイドに配された絞り調整用のボタン留めのアジャスタータブ、袖口開口調節用のボタン留めアジャスタータブカフス等、トロピカルジャケットのデザイン性、機能性も再現されています。

ミリタリー感をプラスする縫い目のパッカリング(縫い目のシワ、縫い縮み)など雰囲気のある仕上がりになっています。

Fabric : Single ply OG-107 NON-RIP STOP 100% cotton poplin. Made from lightweight cotton poplin fabric that is high density, smooth, flat looking, tough, durable crispy feel. Non-stretch poplin fabric with no pattern in the weave of the threads. It has the natural softness for comfort, but also strong and long lasting. This lightweight outerwear piece can be worn year-round, especially in spring and fall. It is perfect to wear alone like a shirt or as a base layer with a outerwear. Great for wearing mid-season or even in the winter with under layering.

Lining : Unlined, Suitable for year-round, especially in spring and fall.

Types of garment closure (Placket type) : Full-button closure (Front placket, Front button closure). 6 buttons on front opening. Concealed buttons on frontal closure except the top button. Full button down with a hidden 5/6 placket. Covered placket refers to a placket where the buttons are hidden behind the placket. This jacket has an internal integrated gas flap secured with internal 2 buttons designed to protect the wearer from blister or vesicant gas agents located behind concealed front button closure. Gas flap has been stitched to the left side of Jacket's inside. Also, inner button for gas flap on right side. An integrated gas flap that could be buttoned internally to better cover the neck and prevent chemical / gas agents from entering through the front button closure.

Storage : The jacket has four exterior pockets. Two chest expandable cargo pockets with flap closures secured by two exposed gloss-finished urea buttons. The slant design on chest pockets facilitated the extraction of their contents. Chest pocket has drain holes at the bottom to allow water to drain out. And chest pockets have a pencil slot. And two large-sized expandable cargo pockets with flap closures secured by two exposed gloss-finished urea buttons at the lower front section of the front. The closure buttons on pockets are not covered.
